Salone del Mobile.Milano returns to India with two events in New Delhi and Mumbai to renew synergies and strengthen the link between Made in Italy and a market that is growing and of great interest to Italian companies.
Italy is in fact the second EU country by value of furniture exports to’India and among the few to have a positive trade balance. Also significant and continuously growing is India’s presence at the next edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano (April 21–26, 2026, Fiera Milano, Rho), which ranks tenth among the 160 countries of origin of visitors, with over 4,490 professional operators present.
Why India is a strategic market for Italian furniture
The Salone del Mobile.Milano considers India not only a market, but a strategic partner with whom to share a future vision based on beauty, innovation and culture.
This is explained clearly Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano stating that: “The true potential of India does not lie only in the numbers we observe today, but in the trajectory it is charting. A young country, rapidly changing, with stakeholders who show a marked sensitivity towards design, quality, tailor-made solutions and services with a high cultural content. Here design is not perceived as a simple product, but as a tool of identity, vision and value. As Salone del Mobile.Milano we are in India to build long-term relationships, share perspectives and support Italian companies on a path that looks far ahead. Being present today means investing in a common future, founded on mutual respect, creativity and the ability to interpret change”.

In Mumbai, instead, Salone del Mobile.Milano presented Salone Contract, the project and market platform that will debut in April in Milan, aiming to connect exhibitors’ expertise with the needs of a rapidly expanding market, opening new perspectives for collaboration.
Antonio Bartoli, Italy’s Ambassador to India and Nepal, welcoming for the second year the Salone del Mobile.Milano in India, highlighted that the furniture sector in India will exceed €50 billion by 2029. Andrea Vaiani, Exhibitions Director of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, also stated that “India is undergoing a strong development phase in real estate and hospitality, a context in which attention to project quality and the ability to integrate different skills, visions and cultures is growing. In this scenario, the Salone del Mobile.Milano positions itself as a meeting and collaboration platform, designed to foster dialogue between Italian companies, designers and local operators, and to build lasting relationships in a dynamic and continuously evolving market.”
