ELCAM BIO by PrimaLoft®

ELCAM BIO by PrimaLoft® is a cushioning material that helps reduce the long-term impact of microplastics in our seas, landfills and waterways.

The fibers that make up this innovative material break down at a highly accelerated rate in landfills, oceans and wastewater because they have been optimized to be more palatable to the microbes naturally present in those specific environments. These microbes enable the synthetic insulation and fabric to return to the materials found in nature, leaving behind components such as water, CO2, methane, biomass and humus, a common natural component of soil.

The sustainability of ELCAM BIO by PrimaLoft® is measurable and certified. As shown in the table published here, according to the international standard ASTM5511 which evaluates the anaerobic biodegradability of plastic materials, the material reaches 93.8% biodegradation in just 646 days in landfill conditions, 76.6% biodegradation in 973 days in marine environments and 17.8% in 241 days in wastewater environments.
