The issue of sustainability, in both its social and environmental aspects, has always been a top priority for the Hettich Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of furniture fittings based in Kirchlengern.
In line with these principles, Hettich is now reaffirming its commitment to climate protection and a sustainable future by validating its climate targets based on the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This initiative is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and supports companies with an independent, transparent and recognised assessment process in setting scientifically valid climate targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Clear, science-based targets
By signing the SBTi agreement, Hettich commits to setting and implementing greenhouse gas emission reduction targets based on scientific data, in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
It therefore commits to the following measures: a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030; switching to 90% renewable electricity by 2030; and obtaining commitments from suppliers to reduce Scope 3 emissions.

Timo Pieper, CEO of Hettich, explained how “Under the motto ‘Act today, think tomorrow’, we at Hettich take responsibility for the world we live in. Signing the SBTi agreement is an important milestone for Hettich and underlines our responsibility towards future generations.”
Hettich's environmental manager, Pavan Jha, added: “We are convinced that by setting clear, science-based targets, we can reduce our carbon footprint, promote innovation, and make a positive contribution to climate protection.” The certificate was signed on behalf of all Hettich Group colleagues during this year's press conference.
