- Technological materials for furniture
Respect for the environment: this is the guiding value of the Veneto-based company Lapitec and the material of the same name for architecture and interior design that it developed with the intention of creating a surface that can combine aesthetics, performance and, above all, ecology.
In fact, Lapitec sintered stone, the result of a production process covered by 25 patents, is a 100 percent natural material made from a mixture of natural minerals with no petroleum derivatives.
These are first melted at over 1,500°C, then subjected to a patented vacuum vibro-compression technology and finally consolidated by sintering.
A fully recyclable material
Lapitec is a full-body slab surface, identical at every point of its thickness, pore-free, ultra-durable and fully recyclable. In fact, the very absence of chemical components makes it possible to break down the material at the end of its life into its ingredients and transform it into new slabs in an entirely reversible process. Moreover, since all the raw materials used are non-toxic and it does not undergo changes in its physical state, Lapitec does not produce gases or emit hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as attested by Greenguard and Greenguard Gold certificates.
Entirely free of crystalline silica thanks to the use of Biorite®, a mineral component patented by the company, Lapitec is also a safe material for workers' health.
Its high performance allows great versatility of use, for ventilated facades and roofing, horizontal and vertical surfaces both indoor and outdoor, kitchen tops or tables.
Responsible production
Its production and processing process is also sustainable: in fact, its formula meets the sustainability criteria promoted in the most authoritative environmental protocols such as BREEAM and LEED.
Lapitec is accompanied by the Enviromental Product Declaration (EPD), which evaluates the entire life cycle of materials with particular attention to resource use and emissions.
Adding to the material's sustainability features is the responsible management of the production plant. In fact, the Lapitec company is equipped with an 18,000-square-meter photovoltaic panel plant and cogeneration and plastic packaging management systems. All of which guarantee a reduction in energy consumption and a cut in CO2 emissions. The use of modern, high-efficiency furnaces also makes it possible to contain gas consumption and fully recycle the water used during the production process.
