A world-renowned Italian feather and down producer, Cinelli Piume e Piumini celebrates its first 60 years in business in 2024. 

A story that began in 1964 with founder Silvano Cinelli's passion for goose down and that continues, under the leadership of the second generation, today with the same care and attention. 

The company produces everything in-house in its factory in Buggiano, immersed in the green Valdinievole in the province of Pistoia, where the feathers are selected and processed with skill and respect, obtaining the maximum in terms of quality and performance to then realise the various product lines.

Experimentation and research 

Experimentation and research are the key words that tell the soul of the company since the beginning, when in 1976 it produced the technical down garments for the first Italian expedition to Antarctica. Thanks to its constant research in the technological and production fields, to its tradition of quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail, Cinelli Piume e Piumini guarantees a high level product: the down is in fact processed following procedures that range from a careful selection to the reclamation/washing phase and its sanitisation.

Feather sorting plant 

All its products are tracked, natural, certified and sustainable according to eco-friendly production processes that reduce their environmental impact in a green perspective that characterises the company's philosophy. 

For many years, the company has been committed to protecting the environment by investing at a structural level, through the adoption of innovative technologies and the use of alternative energies in respect of nature, the territory and people.

Certified production 

The transparency of the company's production is certified by DOWNPASS, which guarantees and promotes the correct protection of animals and the responsible sourcing of feathers and down, and RDS (Responsible Down Standard), which certifies the origin of the raw material in terms of respect and protection of animals, reared in a healthy way in their natural environment. 

Cinelli Piume e Piumini is also a member of EDFA (European Down and Feather Association) which groups together the main European down producers and has recently joined IDFB (International Down and Feather Bureau) which represents the most important down producers in the world. The company also has the NOMITE® label on all down products, certifying them as suitable for those with allergies to household dust. 

Three product lines

 Down is processed in-house to make the three product lines: Bedding Line, Furniture Line and Clothing Line. 

In the Bed Line for the home, Cinelli Piume e Piumini proposes quilts, duvets, pillows, decorative cushions and plaids, while for the contract sector the catalogue consists of duvets, pillows and toppers also made to measure for important accommodation facilities at an international level.

For the Furnishing Line, Cinelli Piume e Piumini produces high quality upholstery solutions for sofas and cushions. Selected feathers together with other materials, from fibre to memory foam, for excellent results in terms of softness, insulation, comfort and durability. The pure cotton outer fabric guarantees excellent breathability. The tightly woven fabric prevents down and feathers from escaping. The company provides customised solutions to enable the creation of unique models, from prototypes to series production. 

Finally, for the clothing line, the company collaborates with high-end Italian fashion brands by supplying fine down fillings for their collections.
