On June 4, at the 2025 Annual Conference held in Benidorm/Alicante, Spain, Europur, the European association representing flexible polyurethane foam manufacturers, presented PUReLCA®, a comprehensive LCA software designed and developed specifically to calculate the environmental impact of flexible polyurethane foam formulations.
This software allows companies to quickly generate environmental impact data (Product Carbon Footprint-PCF) or Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) data, “cradle-to-gate,” verified by third parties, for specific formulations. Ultimately, this data, which complies with LCA standards, is ready to be communicated within the supply chain.
A valid and scientifically proven tool
Provided by Metsims Sustainability Consulting, a company specializing in sustainability assessment and life cycle analysis (LCA) solutions, PUReLCA® was developed with the support of LCA experts from Europur member companies to ensure that the entire polyurethane foam supply chain speaks the same language, uses the same parameters established in LCA calculations, and receives the same quality score for data accuracy/completeness used in the chemical industry.
"With PUReLCA®, we provide the flexible polyurethane foam industry with a valid and scientifically proven tool to measure and improve the environmental performance of its products. This launch marks a fundamental step in supporting our members' efforts towards a more sustainable sector, in line with upcoming regulatory requirements," explained Michel Baumgartner, Secretary General of Europur and Euro-Moulders.
The software is available to flexible polyurethane foam manufacturers in Europe.
