Many of the worst fears have dissipated from the very first hours of opening Xylexpo, the biennial international exhibition of woodworking technology and furniture industry which was held at Fiera Milano-Rho from Tuesday 13 to Saturday, May 17, 2014. Already from the first day, in fact it has become apparent that the festival has retained for this edition its role as an international event of reference in even years: the strong presence of international players, consolidated further in the following days; the last days of the event, especially on Friday 16 and Saturday 17, have instead seen the “recovery“ of Italian visitors.
Although the Italian market continues to be in great difficulty, the review confirms its international vocation and still exerts a tangible reminder on the industry. On the other hand we are talking about an exhibition now in its 24th edition and that, despite the difficulties of recent years, has put together all the energies needed to be a “high point“ for exhibitors and visitors.
The trade visitors were regularly recorded 15,250, or 7.1 percent more than in 2012. Growth in arrivals from Italy (plus 4.6 percent) and an even more substantial abroad (more than 8 5 percent). On this front to report an excellent performance in continental Europe, which saw an increase of 12.7 per cent of the trade visitors. Well arrivals from Africa (more than 16 per cent) and the Americas (plus 1.8 percent). In contrast there has been a decline in visitors from Asia, as far as content (less than 1.5 per cent). In terms of attendance - ie the sum of the people every day at the fair - in the five-day event has reached 44 thousand share, of which 42 per cent from abroad.
Xylexpo 2014 welcomed 440 exhibitors, three pavilions, for a net exhibition area of ??27 thousand square meters. Were 123 exhibitors from 27 countries, with Germany in first place (51 exhibitors), followed - in order - from China, Spain, Austria, Great Britain and the Czech Republic on an equal footing, and gradually all the others.
