Also this year, Poliuretano-è took part in the Fuorisalone 2018, in Zona Tortona, with the Soft + Hard Foams installation, with the aim of deepening the characteristics of flexible polyurethane foams and their possibilities of use.
Flexible polyurethane foam has always been a soft material par excellence and is widely used in the world of design and furniture. It is an extremely versatile product that, thanks to the incredible variety of types, is able to meet all the needs of designers.
Soft + Hard Foams, through this new exhibition format proposed at the Salone del Mobile 2018, wanted to create opportunities for contact between operators in the various sectors, offering them the opportunity to "touch" the polyurethanes characteristics and consequently better understand their possibility of use.
In fact there are many fields of application of polyurethane products starting from the world of home and furnishing, for the upholstery of sofas and armchairs, for the production of mattresses and pillows, rather than in the world of construction and industry for the insulation of domestic refrigerators and freezers or for the soundproofing of buildings.
Each polyurethane block has a different surface treatment and a different type of density and bearing capacity. Visitors could touch the polyurethane blocks and sit on a part of them to test the versatility of the material both for its softness and for the different shapes.
The quality, durability and specificity of a seat, for example, depend largely on the type of padding, and the polyurethane, with its different types of density and lift, is able to provide products with "tailor made" features, specific for every need.
Poliuretano-è is a communication project supported by the leading companies in the polyurethane production and by the major international producers who produce additives and components necessary for the industrial development of the material. Poliuretano-è collaborates with major research centres in Italy such as Politecnico di Milano and Material Connexion.
