The General Assembly of FederlegnoArredo took place on May 16th at the Rossini Theater in Pesaro. The choice as the venue for this year's general assembly fell on Pesaro in line with the current mission of the federation: listening, dialogue, territory.
“The great participation of companies confirms that the path of listening and dialogue undertaken in the last year is correct - underlined the president of FederlegnoArredo, Emanuele Orsini. We need to confront ourselves to continue to grow and to strengthen the role of our sector as an element driving the national economy. Today we have sent a signal to the institutions to continue to support the sector with effective industrial policies based on our proposals“.
The economic data underline how the sector enjoys excellent health: with 41.5 billion euros of production revenue in 2017 (+ 2.2% compared to the previous year) and over 320 thousand employees, the wood-furniture sector contributes to 5% to national GDP. Export performance was also good (16.3 billion euros), confirming the strong export vocation of Italian companies in the sector.
At the conclusion of the general assembly there was a round table discussion on the scenarios of wood furniture Emanuele Orsini, Michele Scannavini (ICE president), Luigi Buttiglione (economist), Stefano Boeri (president Triennale Milano), Mauro Federzoni (Banca dei Territories Intesa San Paolo).

The Wood-Furniture sector in the region Marche

The Wood and Furniture sector in the region Marche plays a particularly important role both for the region's economy and for the Italian wood-furniture sector. The Marches production chain produces about 3 billion, divided between Wood (16%), Furniture (76%) and Lighting (7%) with a total of 2,500 companies and more than 20,000 employees. The furniture sector is certainly the most relevant within the supply chain, both in terms of dedicated companies and in terms of product turnover; with about 2.3 billion of turnover, it is the leading sector of the Wood and Furniture supply chain both in the region and in the national complex.
The entire Wood-Furnishing chain of Marche covers 12% of the total regional manufacturing and 13% of the companies dedicated to manufacturing. As regards the weight of the region on the overall national total of the Wood and Furniture sector, the Marche account for 9% of the total turnover.
Marche are in fact immediately after the great regions of the sector, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli; they are the fourth region by turnover of the supply chain, the third by number of employees and the fifth by number of companies.
